Smart upgrade for Ok Plant: overhaul with impact

Small adjustments, big impact – this is how you get more out of your machine

At De Vreede Techniek, we love new construction, but just as much, we enjoy improving existing machines. Sometimes, a smart overhaul is exactly what a system needs to last for years to come — and to perform better than ever.

For Ok Plant, a leading grower in ornamental horticulture, we have carried out such a revision project. With relatively limited interventions, we have significantly elevated the existing wider planting line to a higher level.

Replacement of PLC control and electrical cabinet in existing machine

In this project, we focused on improving the positioning of the containers. Specifically, it was about:

  • Replacing the electrical cabinet
  • The complete renewal of the PLC control system
  • The addition of an encoder wheel for precise positioning of the containers
  • Taking over the control of the Denso robots

Result: accurate positioning and higher capacity

More than you would think at first glance. Thanks to the new control system, the containers can now be positioned more precisely. That may seem like a detail, but the effect is significant:

  • The filling of the container is neater and more consistent
  • More rows fit in one container, which directly saves space and costs
  • The robots work more accurately, with fewer disruptions
  • The entire line runs more stably and is easier to operate

Smart revision in horticulture: technology with impact

We like to call this a good example of machine optimization in horticulture. By analyzing the existing line and addressing it strategically, we have made a significant and cost-efficient leap forward relatively quickly. Not a complete new build, but an impactful upgrade.

Moreover, this is a great example of collaboration with a client who wants to move forward. Ok Plant knows what they want, collaborates effectively, and invests wisely in technology that works.

Improving existing machines? Here's why it's worth it

Revising or modernizing an existing machine is sometimes the most sustainable and practical solution. No demolition and new construction, but more control over your process. More precise control, higher capacity, fewer breakdowns — that's what we're here for.

Do you want to know more about how we improve existing machines? Or do you have a line that could be better but doesn't need to be replaced?

Feel free to call or email. We are happy to help.
